My Home Town Napier Interview with Two Lippy Ladies
Natalie and Karla are The Two Lippy Ladies behind Two Lippy Ladies! They are bringing vintage back with their fabulous range of vintage and rockabilly style dresses and accessories.
They have a beautiful brick and mortar store in one of Napier's stunning Art Deco buildings. You can find them at 5 Market Street in the heart of Napier. Not in Napier? Never fear – you can shop their wonderful website by clicking HERE!
We had a chat with Karla ahead of the DIY Decodence Weekend to get the local lowdown on the best places to shop, eat and visit while in Napier.
Hi Karla! Could you please share a little about your backgrounds and how you and Natalie ended up starting Two Lippy Ladies?
I worked cruise ships in various hotel department roles and Natalie worked for NZ Immigration in the refugee branch. We both wanted our own business and over coffee one day we made a plan. We have always loved the vintage aesthetic and wanted to bring more to New Zealand ladies than what was currently on offer. Our aim is to provide women with a range of flattering and pretty dresses that are made to fit a woman's shape. We were fed up with ill fitting and unforgiving clothing in clingy fabrics – so we have brought together a thoughtful range of vintage inspired dresses and clothing that are a little bit quirky, a whole lot pretty and within an accessible price range. What do you love about working there? What's not to love? Coming to work everyday and working with your best friend is a joy. We get to meet so many ladies from all walks of life and help them feel and look fabulous with the prefect outfit. We are in a gorgeous part of Napier surrounded by artisans and amazing places to dine. And our weather is pretty great also. When people visit your store, either online or IRL, what can they expect to find? Women need to celebrate that they are the occasion and not wait for one to put on the perfect outfit to look and feel fabulous. That's where we work our magic: we offer ladies of all shapes and sizes clothes, accessories and personalised service to do this. From our online platforms to an in store experience, we offer more than what you would receive at a main street store. |
What's a good investment piece for people to consider adding to their wardrobe at the moment?
Cardigans! Perfect to keep you warm and stylish in the winter months. It's all about layering. A cardigan will add a great pop of colour to your outfit. We have a lovely range in store at the moment.
