Glory Days' Beauty Editor, Miss Victory Violet, got up close and personal with YouTube phenomenon Cherry Dollface when she paid New Zealand a visit and hosted a series of vintage beauty workshops.

When news broke earlier in the year that the one and only Cherry Dollface was touring Australia and New Zealand, there were some very excited kiwi pinups! Cherry Dollface is one of the world's top vintage beauty YouTube stars with over 250,000 subscribers to her channel and fans around the world. You can read more about Cherry in Glory Days The Hollywood issue where she was interviewed by The Sweet Painted Lady.

Cherry was hosted by Bombshell Clothing in New Zealand for a few days doing hair and makeup in Hamilton for photoshoots, one on one sessions with lucky ladies and hosting a hair and makeup workshop at the Classics Museum one evening. Miss Monique Sweet and I got to be the lucky models for the evening and there was much excitement and fangirling as all the ladies arrived and got to meet Cherry.

Cherry started on me, doing a full face of pinup makeup using a lot of products from Bomber Betty

Then did my hair which she set using a small curling tong and pinned each curl up to cool down. Cherry used a few awesome sounding products from Sexy Hair and the 'Backcomb in a bottle' spray resulted in many ooh's and ahh's from the ladies watching, as she brush, sprayed, teased and pinned my hair into place.
Next up was Monique and Cherry was doing Victory Rolls! This style is notorious amongst pinups for being tricky to get the hang of and whilst online tutorials are wonderful, there's nothing like seeing it done in person.
Afterwards there were lots of selfies with the lovely Cherry to finish off the evening and show off our new 'dos!

Here are some tips I picked up from Cherry's workshop...

  1. When doing your makeup, start on your 'bad side' or the side that feels less natural/easy to do. That way you'll be better at matching the other side up!
  2. Once you've filled in your brows, use a darker colour to line the bottom to create dimension and better definition.
  3. When applying makeup, hold the brush further down for a stronger effect and to add heavier colour. Hold it higher up for a softer touch.

Cherry has just released a Youtube video of her time in Australia and New Zealand... keep an eye out for the kiwi pinups at the end of the video!
As well as Beauty Editor for Glory Days, Miss Victory Violet has her very own blog, hugely popular instagram account, and a Facebook page that get's daily updates. Please follow Miss Victory Violet on any or all of these to get the best pinup tips and tricks around!
